Police shooting in Lincoln neighborhood, leaves man dead

Police shoot and kill suspected armed robber near Fairway Valley Lane in Sun City Lincoln after suspect leads police on chase.

Early this morning, police officers shot and killed 54-year old Gregory Gifford of Fair Oaks  (54),  after the man who was suspected in a Rocklin armed robbery led officers on a chase and pulled a gun on officers after exiting his vehicle. Gregory Gifford was a retired firefighter.

California Highway Patrol spotted a vehicle matching the armed robbery investigation and a chase ensued through the community of Lincoln.

The shooting occurred in a very quiet residential neighborhood.
