Roseville, Calif.- This morning Poyer Bill Pila Vaenuku, age 28 of Sacramento, was arrested in a Placer County courtroom in connection with a July 25 attempted robbery and shooting on Conroy Lane.

The arrest was made as a result of a Roseville Police Crime Suppression Unit investigation.

At 1:20 a.m. July 25, a man confronted a woman at gunpoint outside an apartment building in the 1100 block of Conroy Lane, and demanded her property.  When she indicated to the robber that she didn’t have anything to give him, he fired his handgun at least three times.  Although no one was struck or injured, one of the rounds went through the window of a nearby apartment, narrowly missing a resident inside.

Roseville Police Department’s Crime Suppression (gang) Unit investigated with the assistance of Roseville patrol officers.

Their investigation led to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office filing charges against Vaenuku of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied buiding, and attempted robbery.  He was ordered into custody this morning while he was appearing in court on another case, and is being booked into the Placer County Jail on $400,000 bail.

Vaenuku is a member of the Tongan Crip gang, and Crime Suppression Unit officers are still investigating whether the attempted robbery and shooting were gang-related.
