The driver of the car was identified as the victim’s roommate, Jackson Gall.  Investigators found that the two had been socializing in their apartment with friends,  and for yet-unknown reasons, Gall allegedly shot Hammer once in the neck.  Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Gall is being held without bail in the Roseville City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, and will be moved later to the Placer County Jail.
