Winter Tradition, Family Fun and Chillaxation
RENO, Nev. – Dashing through Downtown Reno this winter will be hundreds of ice skaters as Rink at THE ROW makes its glistening debut across from the Circus Circus Reno, on the corner of Sierra and 6th Street. Surrounded by the vibrant lights of Eldorado, Circus Circus and Silver Legacy, Rink at THE ROW is scheduled to open November 18.
Rink at THE ROW is the next chapter for the ice rink that has moved from City Plaza to Greater Nevada Field to its now permanent home on Sierra Street, but through all of its transitions, one thing has remained true, and that’s that northern Nevada and its visitors love the winter season tradition.
“THE ROW is a multi-faceted resort experience and we are continually looking to expand our offerings to our local community and our guests,” said Tracy Mimno, General Manager of THE ROW. “More so, the ice skating rink is synonymous with the holiday season and something we know our guests look forward to every year. We are excited to bring this popular winter activity to THE ROW to enhance our resort experience.”
The Rink will have a chillaxation area complete with food and beverage options like hot cocoa for the kids and Hot Toddies for the adults among other winter warmers. Special events like Ice Skating with Santa and New Year’s Eve Midnight Skating during fireworks will be announced in the coming weeks.
The 9,000 square foot ice skating rink will be illuminated at night by 3,000 lineal feet of LED lighting around and above the perimeter. Ice rink provider, Ice-America, who also built The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, will install thousands of feet of freezing coils to create an 8-inch thick ice. To maintain its chill, the City of Reno has leased to THE ROW a 400 ton chiller and new electrical service is being installed to support it as well as other ice rink electrical needs.
