Sunday morning, April 12th, 2015 marked the 12th annual Run Rocklin event, and this year continued to be a remarkable community event.
With an estimated 3,000 runners participating, Run Rocklin remains an event that draws the Rocklin community together to benefit local charities and non-profits, namely the Matt Redding Foundation which honors the memory of Rocklin Police Officer Matt Redding who was killed in the line-of-duty on October 9th, 2005. The Matt Redding Foundation provides thousands of dollars in scholarships to young men and women at local Placer County high schools and colleges towards academic pursuits of law enforcement, fire service or Emergency Medical Service students.
Several Rocklin police officers, as well as law enforcement officers and employees from around the region joined in the Run Rocklin runners to pay tribute to Officer Matt Redding. Special thank you to Larry Osborne who coordinates the event, and to all of the Rocklin Public Safety Volunteers who dedicate countless hours for traffic control each year in this wonderful tribute to a fallen local hero.
