19-year-old Fair Oaks man arrested
Roseville, Calif.-ย Just before 2 p.m. on December 9, a couple of Roseville Police officers were patrolling the mall on bicycles, as part of their efforts to keep shopping areas safe and prevent thefts during the holiday shopping season.ย
The bike patrol officers checked on two men sitting in a sedan parked on the top level of the five-story parking garage. The driver sped away from the officers, racing down the ramps of the garage and ignoring the officers’ commands to stop. At one point the suspect drove directly at one of the officers, forcing him to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit.
Additional patrol officers responded and stopped the car on State Route 65.ย The 19-year-old Fair Oaks man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer (driving his car at the officer) and evading officers with disregard for public safety.ย His passenger was not suspected of any wrong-doing, and was released.ย
