Placer County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Camp Far West Reservoir last night after reports of a boat accident on the lake. Deputies later located the accident scene and the body of Frank Joseph Urbancic, 53, of Roseville.

Saturday night, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports of a high-speed single boat accident on Camp Far West Reservoir northeast of Lincoln. Patrol deputies responded and determined that the accident involved a solo boat operator who lost control of his vessel at high speed on the south side of the lake. The boat sank and the operator, Urbancic, was missing.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol, Dive Team, and helicopter responded to the area to begin rescue operations. They were assisted by deputies from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit. Urbancic’s body was located by Placer County Sheriff’s divers shortly after midnight the Sunday.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Marine Unit and Dive Teams remain at the scene of the accident and are continuing attempts to recover the sunken vessel.
