Rocklin, Calif.- The Rocklin Unified School District has contracted with San Francisco based WestED to perform a study on its beleaguered Special Education department.
Allegations of physical abuse and administrative cover-up at Breen Elementary are among several issues which have been plaguing the district for years and have spurred what many parents see as a long overdue opportunity to better meet the needs of the special education community.
WestEd is a research, development and service agency that works with education and other communities to promote excellence, achieve equity and improve learning for children, youth and adults, has provided a contract to perform a study of the District’s Special Education department, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, organizational structure and staffing, areas of strength and areas requiring modification or suggestions for improvement.
A motion was passed unanimously at the December school board meeting.
