At the September 11, 2007 Rocklin City Council meeting, Police Chief Mark Siemens introduced 5 Rocklin officers who were being promoted as a result of retirements and organizational changes. City Clerk Barbara Ivanusich administered the Oath of Office to the officers as family members and friends participated in pinning on their new badges.  

Sergeant Lon Milka is promoted to Police Lieutenant effective September 8th. Lt. Milka has been a member of the Rocklin Police Department for 13 years, and most recently was Sergeant of Detectives. Lt. Milka has been a SWAT Team member, Field Training Officer, and Public Information officer for Rocklin PD. He started his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. He will be assigned as a Patrol lieutenant.

Corporal Trent Jewell is promoted to Police Sergeant effective September 8th. He has been with the department for 4 years, working as a helicopter flight officer, hostage negotiator, Field Training Officer, Detective, defensive tactics instructor Honor Guard member. Sergeant Jewell started his career 12 years ago as a police officer in the City of Oxnard. Sergeant Jewell will begin his duties as a sergeant assigned to Patrol. 

Corporal Jamie Knox is promoted to Police Sergeant effective September 9th. Sergeant Knox has been an officer in Rocklin for 11 years. He was Rocklin’s Police Officer of the Year in 1998 and is a 3-time recipient of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hero Award. During his tenure with Rocklin PD, Sergeant Knox has been a Field Training Officer, SWAT Team member, K-9 officer, Detective and a Corporal. Sergeant Knox will be assigned as a Patrol sergeant.    

Officer Tony Handley was assigned as a Corporal on September 8th. Corporal Handley came to Rocklin PD 4 ยฝ years ago after serving 3 years as a deputy with the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office. He is a Field Training Officer, Less Lethal Weapons Instructor and a member of the SWAT Team.  

Officer Jason Westgate was assigned as a Corporal on September 9th. Corporal Westgate has been a Rocklin police officer since 1999 after serving 4 years as an officer with the Colusa Police Department. While a member of Rocklin PD, Corporal Westgate has served as a Field Training Officer, firearms instructor and Community Policing Officer. He is currently a K-9 officer assigned to Patrol.
