Lincoln AAA Office to Close Down

As part of an ongoing plan to increase competitiveness and manage expenses, AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah (AAA NCNU) will close or relocate 10 of its 103 branch offices and reduce its overall workforce by about 100 positions by the end of the second quarter of 2010.

All of the affected branch offices are in Northern California. Four of the closures are in Greater Sacramento, with the remaining closures and relocations centered primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to the branch office changes, AAA NCNU will be closing its club-owned ‘Car Care Plus’ auto repair facility in Henderson, Nevada.

Members’ needs were given a high priority when considering which branches to close. Nearly all the branches that are closing are within 20 minutes of another AAA location. Eight of the affected branches will close on Friday, March 26. Two other Bay Area branches are targeted to be relocated to nearby locations by the end of the second quarter.  Members in surrounding areas are being notified of the changes and provided with information about other nearby branch locations.

Approximately 100 employees in various roles throughout the company will be laid off as part of AAA NCNU’s ongoing plan to manage expenses and improve its marketplace competitiveness. The eliminated positions are primarily in middle management and branch offices. With the exception of a limited number of eliminated positions at the Car Care Plus facility in Henderson, Nevada, all of the job reductions are in California. All eligible employees will be offered severance and employee assistance.

‘These are always difficult decisions. It’s important that our branch office structure remain agile to meet the changing needs of our customers and we are also continually expanding services available over the phone and through our website,’ said Mack.
