Body found in American River

Placer County Sheriff”s coroners officials will perform forensic testing late today to determine the identity of the man whose body was found in the American River Saturday.

The body was located by the Sheriff Department’s helicopter crew as it flew over the China Bar area of the river in Auburn. Members of the sheriff’s dive team recovered the body Sunday and it was transported to the Placer County morgue.

An autopsy and dental-record comparison will be performed late this afternoon. The man’s identify should be available Tuesday, pending notification of family members.
