Auburn, Calif.- Directors of the Placer County Water Agency on Thursday (May 2) approved an application for water service to 48 residential parcels in Phases 2B and 2C of the Schaffer’s Mill community near Truckee.

Schaffer’s Mill and surrounding areas are part of PCWA’s eastern Placer County Zone 4 service area, which is supplied with groundwater.

The agreement also calls for a new intertie between Phase 2C and the Truckee Donner Public Utility District.ย  The TDPUD has already approved the agreement.

In other business, PCWA directors:

  • welcomed Jeff Darlington, executive director of the Placer Land Trust, who thanked PCWA for its support with the Land Trust’s new Canyon View Trail, which is scheduled to be dedicated at a June 1 ribbon cutting.  The event is open to the public and begins at 9 a.m. at the trailhead, which is located just off Interstate 80 at the Bowman Road exit.
  • approved a $27,500 contract with JVB Consulting of Davis to continue irrigation management services to Placer County agricultural water users.   The program uses soil moisture and weather data to provide recommendations on proper irrigation.
  • approved an agreement with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to transfer surplus water through Folsom Reservoir for a proposed one-time sale of up to 20,000 acre-feet to the Westlands Water District.
