At 9:44 a.m. on Monday morning,ย the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and local fire/rescue personnel responded to reports of a skydiving accident that occurred during a golf event at a resort in the Olympic Valley area.

Witnesses stated the skydiver was one member of a group conducting a skydiving performance for the golf event. One of the skydivers impacted a tree while attempting to land and became entangled with the tree high above the ground. Rescue personnel were able to remove the skydiver from the tree; however, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. All other skydivers landed safely.

The investigation into this accident is continuing and the FAA has been notified.

The skydiver has been identified as Erik Lars Roner, age 39, from Tahoe City, Ca.
