At 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, Roseville Police and Roseville Fire personnel responded to a home in the 1100 block of Windermere Avenue, to a report that a man had just stabbed his elderly father.ย 

The first responding officer encountered the suspect outside the residence, armed with a knife.  The officer fired several rounds, striking the suspect.  Additional officers arrived on scene to assist, and found an 84-year-old man down inside the residence with multiple stab wounds.  The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he is listed in critical condition.

The stabbing suspect, a 54-year-old male, was also taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of gunshot wounds.  He is in serious condition, but expected to survive. 

The stabbing and subsequent officer-involved shooting are being investigated by the Roseville Police Department’s Investigation’s Unit.  The investigation is being monitored by the Placer County District Attorney’s Office according to the department’s protocol for officer-involved shootings.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave, also according to the department’s protocol.
