Police investigating death of a two-year-old girl
Update: Denise Marie Wilder, 37, of Roseville has been released from jail on her own recognizance.
The Roseville Police Department is investigating the death of a two-year-old girl, McKinley Wilder. The child’s mother has been arrested on suspicion of homicide and child endangerment.
At 5:07 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, Roseville Police and Roseville Fire personnel responded to a home in the 300 block of Diamond Oaks Road, to a report of a child not breathing. The home belongs to the deceased child’s grandparents, who were out of town; a family friend had gone there looking for the child’s mother, and upon finding her and the child, called police.
It was confirmed that the two-year-old girl was deceased. The child’s mother was at the scene, intoxicated. Her other child, a five-year-old girl, was also at the scene. The five-year-old was medically checked and released to the custody of Child Protective Services. She has since been placed with family.
Due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the child’s death, detectives placed the child’s mother, Denise Marie Wilder, 37, of Roseville, under arrest on suspicion of homicide and child endangerment. Due to the ongoing investigation and pending autopsy results, no further information is available at this time.
