For the 11th consecutive year, Placer County’s Procurement Services Division has been selected to receive a prestigious award that recognizes organizational excellence.
Procurement Services, a division of the County Administrative Services Department, was chosen to receive a 2013 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute and several affiliated organizations.
“I applaud Procurement Services for its commitment to excellence year after year, and for once again proving itself to be a leader in its field,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Jim Holmes. “I am proud to represent a county where so many employees do a great job serving the public and making sure County funds are used wisely.”
“This award recognizes the outstanding work of each member of the Procurement Services Division and their dedication to protecting the interests of the public and the departments they serve,” Director of Administrative Services Jerry Gamez said. “Winning the award for 11 consecutive years demonstrates how committed they are to ensuring public funds are spent in a fiscally sound manner.”
Placer County is one of only 36 government agencies in California and one of only 43 counties nationwide to receive an award this year.
Public agencies and nonprofit organizations are eligible for awards. They are judged on criteria designed to evaluate innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership. This year, Placer County received a perfect score of 135 points.
Procurement Services provides centralized purchasing services for County departments and ensures timely delivery of products and services. It is responsible for managing the County’s surplus operations and credit card program. Purchasing Manager Brett Wood oversees a nine-member staff.
The awards program was created in 1995 by the National Procurement Institute, an affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management.
