AUBURN, CA. The 2010 Gold Country Fair has been recognized in seven categories in the annual Western Fair Association (WFA) Achievement Awards competition. The wins were chalked up by the Fair’s marketing programs for the 2010 ‘Bee A Kid Again’ themed Fair.  WFA is composed of member fairs and large special events in the western United States plus major shows in Canada. The Gold Country Fair competed against other Fairs of similar size.

Top honors went to the Fair for their Television Commercial, Best Promotion for Bee a Kid Again, Direct Mail Postcard, Radio Commercial, Fair Entertainment Schedule, and Outdoor Billboard.

Interim CEO Laurie Johnson, Senior Maintenance Worker Jim Kildow, and marketing director Karen Spencer attended the annual WFA convention in Reno, where the Gold Country Fair TV commercial was was one of three highlighted at the awards dinner.  Laurie Johnson explains ‘It’s wonderful to be recognized by our peers in the Fair industry, but it is most important to put on a great Fair that our community participates in and enjoys.’

Looking forward to another award-winning Fair, the 2011 event is sure to catch the eye of the judges in the next competition. ‘Get Ag-Cited!’ is the new theme, that will feature local agriculture and encourage everyone to enjoy the Fair like they did as a kid.ย  The Gold Country Fair will be held September 8-11.
