This morning, October 17, at approximately 02:33 AM, Rocklin Police officers observed a suspicious vehicle driving in an alley behind a business in the 4000 block of Granite Drive. The business was closed and when officers approached the suspect and attempted to contact him, he fled from officers on foot.  Additional officers responded and a perimeter was established.  The suspect was eventually apprehended in a nearby business complex.  The suspect was identified as, Donald McGuckin, a 46 year old from Sacramento.

Officers searched the area where they first tried to contact McGuckin and discovered that a front window to a business had been broken.  It did not appear that the suspect was able to make entry into the business because of the officer’s intervention. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, officers located burglary tools and narcotics paraphernalia.

McGuckin was placed under arrest for attempted commercial burglary, possession of burglary tools, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.  Rocklin Police Detectives are continuing to work on the investigation.  McGuckin was booked on the listed charges at the Placer County Jail and is being held on $45,000 bail.
