Roseville, Calif.- A local effort to pack 500,000 meals for malnourished children around the world recently raised more than $18,000 at a dinner fundraiser hosted by Randy Peters Catering and Event Planning and held at Valley Springs Church in Roseville.
The money raised will cover the cost of 83,000 meals to be packed at the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack, being held at William Jessup University from Oct. 24 to Oct. 26.
“We are incredibly thankful for the partnership and support we received from Randy Peters Catering and Event Planning,” said Michael Gebhardt, one of the organizers of the Sacramento area MobilePack. “This year alone they have helped us reach nearly 17 percent of our fundraising goal. Their tremendous generosity has been an integral part of our efforts to give to those less fortunate.”
In addition to dinner, the event featured a silent auction, dinner entertainment, and raffles that took place throughout the night. A number of organizations supported the dinner fundraiser, including Table Sponsors Trailscape Inc., Sims & Ocken Law Firm, Roseville Vision Center, Adventure Christian Church, Blueprint Financial and Halldin Public Relations.
This is the second year that Randy Peters Catering and Event Planning has donated all the food and service for a Feed My Starving Children benefit.
“We are honored to be able to contribute to make a difference in the lives of children who need help so desperately,” said Randy Peters. “We’ve had the opportunity to pack meals as well and the overall experience is a great one for volunteers as well as the children in need.”ย
Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit that distributes culturally-neutral, nutritious meals to nearly 70 countries through more than 70 missions and humanitarian agencies. In most cases, the free food is used to operate orphanages, schools, clinics, and community feeding programs that contribute to long-term community development. Ninety-two percent of donations to FMSC go directly to the food program.
Information on the MobilePack is available at www.sacfmscmobilepack.org. In addition to volunteers, organizers are seeking business and civic groups who would like to both volunteer and sponsor meals. To cover the cost of 500,000 meals, organizers are working to raise $110,000.ย
