Angel Tree Program

Providing Toys to Children in Need

Sacramento, Calif. – It’s easy to help a family in need this holiday season with The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. The nonprofit has thousands of families signed up to receive holiday assistance across the Del Oro Division, which covers Northern California and Northern Nevada. Those families will receive toys for their children, thanks to the generosity of strangers who care. You can adopt children in need for Christmas and shop online at myangeltree.org.

While most locations have finished singing up families to receive toys through Angel Tree, The Salvation Army of Sacramento still has about 300 unfulfilled spots.

Applying

They are now accepting walk-in applications for families with children ages 17 and younger. To apply, families need to provide the following documentation: head of household ID, proof of residence, household income, children’s birth certificate or medical card. Register at The Salvation Army Family Services, located at 3213 Orange Grove Ave., North Highlands, CA. You can also call (916) 678-4010 and select option 7 to request a phone appointment. The remaining spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Nationwide, The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart and Sam’s Club for the Angel Tree program. Angel Trees with tags representing real children are in participating stores. To adopt a child in need, choose a tag from an Angel Tree, purchase the gifts on the tag, and return the tag and gifts to the location indicated on the tag by December 15. You can also shop online through Walmart’s registry for good. Gifts purchased online will be sent to The Salvation Army location you choose. Local registries can also be found at myangeltree.org. You can also round up your purchase to The Salvation Army on Walmart.com and the Walmart App.

Angel Trees can also be found at other businesses like Great Clips, Cricket Wireless, and select Advance Auto Parts stores.

Cal Exp

Toys will be given out to families who have signed up for the Angel Tree program in the days leading up to Christmas. In Sacramento, The Salvation Army will provide toys, food and Christmas trees to thousands of families in a one-day mega distribution event at Cal Expo on December 22.
