Roseville, Calif.- Early yesterday morning, Roseville Police Department patrol officers arrested a man suspected of fleeing from officers in a stolen car yesterday morning, and setting off a lengthy ground search in a residential area.
At about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, a Mercedes sedan was stolen from the 1200 block of Plumber Way. A few minutes later, Roseville officers saw the stolen car speeding down Vernon Street. The driver led officers on a short pursuit, until he abandoned the stolen car on Darling Way at Vine Way and fled on foot. Many officers from Roseville PD and neighboring law enforcement agencies searched the nearby residential neighborhoods and the creek bed area, but were unable to find the suspect. Two nearby schools were locked down during the search.
Officers continued to investigate, and identified a suspect. Early yesterday (Wednesday, November 13), officers arrested 29-year-old Zechariah Austin Lee at his home in Citrus Heights on suspicion of evading police officers with disregard for public safety, the theft and possession of a stolen vehicle, and a Sacramento County warrant for violating the terms of his post-release community supervision. He’s being held without bail in the Placer County Jail.
