Rocklin New Year’s DUI Arrests: 0

The Rocklin Police Department reported  a nice, quiet New Years Eve this year with very few calls for service, and no significant incidents.

The Rocklin PD want to especially acknowledge all of our responsible revelers who were smart to either celebrate at home or have a designated driver for the evening. They had zero DUI arrests and zero DUI related accidents last night as a result of responsible choices. Only one arrest was made for public intoxication. The Rocklin PD thanks residents for helping to keep us all safe entering the New Year!

Property crimes saw a slight increase overall by 2% over the previous year, largely due to auto-theft (up 5%), larceny/grand-theft (up 5%), and residential burglary (up 12%). Commercial burglary saw a 13% decrease during 2014 compared to the previous year.

While Rocklin enjoy’s a very low crime rate, they want to remind our community that burglary and larceny/grand-theft remain our most common crimes. During 2014, residential burglaries increased by 13 over the previous year. The good news is that commercial burglaries actually went down, decreasing by 16 compared to the previous year.

Residential Burglary (+12%)
2013- 105
2014- 118

Commercial (-13%)
2013- 124
2014- 108
During the month of December (2014) alone, Rocklin experienced 11 residential burglaries perpetrated randomly throughout the City during various times of the day/night and different days of the week.

“While residential burglaries increased slightly during 2014, Rocklin still enjoys a remarkably low crime rate for a city of nearly 60,000 residents, especially a low number of violent crimes. Rocklin continues to be one of the safest communities in the greater Sacramento region.” – Shawn Baird, Rocklin Police Dept. Crime Analyst
