Rocklin, Calif.- According to preliminary reports, Rocklin remained a safe city with a very low crime rate during 2014.

While a more detailed Annual Report will be made available from our Crime Analyst in early February, 2015, their preliminary analysis indicates overall, violent crime in Rocklin was 24% lower during 2014 than the previous year.

Rocklin New Year’s DUI Arrests: 0

The Rocklin Police Department reported  a nice, quiet New Years Eve this year with very few calls for service, and no significant incidents.

The Rocklin PD want to especially acknowledge all of our responsible revelers who were smart to either celebrate at home or have a designated driver for the evening. They had zero DUI arrests and zero DUI related accidents last night as a result of responsible choices. Only one arrest was made for public intoxication. The Rocklin PD thanks residents for helping to keep us all safe entering the New Year!

Property crimes saw a slight increase overall by 2% over the previous year, largely due to auto-theft (up 5%), larceny/grand-theft (up 5%), and residential burglary (up 12%). Commercial burglary saw a 13% decrease during 2014 compared to the previous year.

While Rocklin enjoy’s a very low crime rate, they want to remind our community that burglary and larceny/grand-theft remain our most common crimes. During 2014, residential burglaries increased by 13 over the previous year. The good news is that commercial burglaries actually went down, decreasing by 16 compared to the previous year.

During the month of December (2014) alone, Rocklin experienced 11 residential burglaries perpetrated randomly throughout the City during various times of the day/night and different days of the week.
