According to PG&E, the area of the Tuesday September 27th fire near Cirby Way and Riverside Avenue is safe and secure.ย  Over the next several weeks, PG&E plans to replace more than 400 feet of pipeline in the incident area with new, more modern pipeline.

The City has requested a meeting with PG&E within the next week to discuss the incident.  We remain vigilant about the safety of our community and will sit down with their superintendent and engineers to discuss safety concerns and the status of maintenance and repairs to lines.

PG&E will be performing unrelated, scheduled routine maintenance across town near near Country Club Dr and Acton Way.  PG&E crews will be venting a relatively small amount of natural gas as part of this.  This venting is part of necessary, planned work to install a new valve on a pipeline in the area.  Customers may smell natural gas and hear a loud, consistent noise during the venting process.

If you are concerned by the smell of natural gas, PG&E encourages you to call them at 1-800-743-5000 to determine the specific cause of the odor.
