The Placer County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the media with their assistance in locating the stolen moose head from Sunnyside Resort in North Lake Tahoe.

Due to media coverage, on March 23, 2015 a citizen came forward stating he had located Sunnyside’s moose head. The citizen had located the property on the side of the road near Sunnyside Resort in early January shortly after the moose head had been reported stolen.

The citizen took the moose head home not knowing the circumstances surrounding it.  Upon seeing the news story, the citizen contacted the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the property was returned to Sunnyside Resort. The persons responsible for the theft are still outstanding.

On January between midnight and 7:00am, unknown suspect(s) entered the lobby of the Sunnyside Resort in North Lake Tahoe and stole a mounted moose head from the lobby. The moose head has been an iconic feature at the resort for many years.
