Blizzard conditions expected to blanket Lake Tahoe and Sierra Nevada
Olympic Village, Calif.- The forecast of a white Christmas in Placer County is all but certain according to projections from the National Weather Service. A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from Thursday, Dec 23 through Sunday, December 26.

Higher elevations could see storm totals of over 11 feet of snow. Wind gusts of 80 mph, will make for extremely dangerous whiteout conditions. Periods of high avalanche danger will be in effect along the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains between Yuba Pass (Hwy 49) on the north and Ebbetts Pass (Hwy 4) on the south, including the greater Lake Tahoe area.
Impossible Travel
Weekend travel over the passes of Highway 80 and Highway 50 will be impossible at times and lower elevations will remain treacherous.
The National Weather Service encourage people to avoid travel if possible. Travelers should be prepared to be stuck in their vehicles for hours and prepare for long delays while carrying an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing.

South Placer Forecast
In Roseville, Rocklin and South Placer residents should expect rain and possible thunderstorms with gust winds throughout the Christmas weekend. Temperatures will range from the mid 50’s to lows in the 30’s and 40’s.
