Roseville, Calif.- Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar will celebrate the reopening of Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill in Roseville, Calif., with a special concert event on Saturday, September 13 at the Vernon Street Town Square.

Hagar will reunite with the surviving original members of Montrose, the seminal hard rock band he launched his music career with, including bassist Bill Church and drummer Denny Carmassi, as well as guest guitarist Vic Johnson and a few surprise guests, for what’s certain to be an unforgettable night of music.

“Get ready,” Sammy Hagar commented. “We’ve got all the makings for an epic party – and this time I’m bringing my family… and some legendary friends.”

“The Hagar Family kept the faith in our downtown vision,” said Chris Robles, CEO of the Roseville Community Development Corporation who worked with the Hagar family to get the restaurant reopened.  “The concert is a fantastic opportunity to show off our revitalization efforts and businesses in downtown Roseville.  We’re very excited.”

The concert will be held in the Vernon Street Town Square, to celebrate the first anniversary of its grand opening. Entry for (2) two to the concert will be included in the purchase of a $75 Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill restaurant gift card, which go on sale beginning Tuesday, August 19 at 10 a.m., via Get My Perks.  The gift card can be redeemed for food and beverage at The Island after September 15, 2014.

“The reopening of Sammy’s restaurant is a story of perseverance,” said Roseville Mayor Susan Rohan. “It is a signature entertainment and dining venue in our downtown.  It is very fitting to have the concert in the Vernon Street Town Square, which is a significant part of Roseville’s downtown revitalization efforts.  It will be a great celebration.”

Vernon Street Town Square is located at 311 Vernon St., in downtown Roseville, and a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Placer Food Bank.   The show begins at 7 p.m., gates will open at 5:30 p.m.  Concert attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food to donate to the food bank at the event.

“We are thrilled to have been selected as the non-profit recipient of the grand re-opening, and couldn’t be more excited to have Sammy’s back in town,” said Dave Martinez, Executive Director of Placer Food Bank. “What an amazing community partners we have in the Hagar family.”

Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill is scheduled to reopen Monday, September 15, the second anniversary of Roseville’s declaration of Sammy Hagar Day, which included a benefit show in the restaurant by Hagar.

The restaurant closed in November 2013.  The Roseville Community Development Corporation took ownership of the property in April 2014 and quickly came to an agreement to reopen the existing restaurant with members of the Hagar Family. The Hagar Family now owns and will operates the revamped restaurant.  The owners of the original Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill had a licensing agreement with Hagar but neither Hagar nor his family had an ownership stake in the business, until now.
