Artrageous Guaranteed to Draw a Crowd to the 14th Annual Hot Chili & Cool Cars Art Event Raises Money for Visual & Performing Arts
ROCKLIN – The 14th Annual Hot Chili and Cool Cars, one of the biggest and spirited community events of the year, will once again feature its anticipated street art competition Artrageous, but with a new twist.
Artrageous will feature only local student artists. Juniors and seniors of all local high schools and local college students are invited to participate in this years event. These talented artists will be using chalk to create art on the street to brighten up the 14th Annual Hot Chili and Cool Cars Event.
The Rocklin Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the festival on Sept. 22nd, in conjunction with the City of Rocklin.
Each student artist will use pastel chalk on 6 x 8 feet rectangles. The students creation will be judged and the first, second, and third place winners will be rewarded scholarships. The proceeds from Artrageous will benefit the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) programs in the Rocklin Unified School District.
Businesses wishing to sponsor Artrageous can do so by purchasing a square for $500 or a half square for $300. Sponsors name will be featured prominently at the top of their square.
“By choosing to feature only local student artists, we felt we could further involve our community and give students an opportunity to show off their talents.” Said Ernest Brown this years organizer of Artrageous and Executive Director of KidzArt of Sacramento Placer. “The scholarships will give these gifted students more opportunity to further their art education.”
Artrageous will also feature Kids Zone. For $10, children can create their own masterpieces on the street in a 2-foot-by-2-foot square and will receive a mini-pastel kit.
The Hot Chili & Cool Cars event is scheduled for Sept. 22nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Pacific Street between Rocklin Road and Midas Avenue. In addition to a chili cook-off, which drew almost 30 entrants last year, this years event will include live music, demonstrations in Performance Square throughout the day, and the judging of nearly 200 classic cars. Activity booths and games for the kids make this an event the whole family can enjoy.
