A 29-year-old man who illegally sold liquor at the defunct Valencia Club in Penryn must report to the Placer County jail on Oct. 19 to begin serving a 15-day sentence.
Travis Lloyd Kevie of Newcastle was given the jail sentence on August 19 by Placer County Superior Court Judge Joseph O”Flaherty after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of selling liquor without a license.
Kevie was also fined $160 and was ordered to stay away from the Valencia Club unless lawfully employed there.
The defendant was arrested July 20 after he’d had the bar open for four days and had drawn about 30 customers a day despite the fact that the Valencia Club had gone out of business.
A news account of the bar being open again caught the attention of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated the situation and arrested Kevie.
