Seaside Destination Celebrates Thriving Culinary Scene
Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif. – Carmel-by-the-Sea will host its third annual Carmel-by-the-Sea Culinary Week, June 2 through June 10, 2023.
The dreamy seaside village, renowned worldwide for its charm and natural beauty, is dishing up its distinct culinary evolution by highlighting a wide array of restaurants, esteemed chefs, and accolades throughout the weeklong festival.
Carmel Culinary Week’s “Art of the Plate” theme pays homage to the artistic heritage of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the creative, imaginative spirit the destination brings to culinary enthusiasts. An impressive lineup of restaurants will offer special prix fixe menus (wherein chefs will offer dishes not normally found on the menu), complimentary tastes and treats, and immersive culinary demonstrations and experiences, such as a new self-guided Pub Crawl-by-the-Sea, a Sparkling Sake Special at Toro, Bowmore Whiskey Oyster Luge at A.W. Shucks, and a Wines of Tuscany Guided Tasting at La Balena.
Events
During Carmel Culinary Week, there will be also various events demonstrating the culinary participants, special guests and more, including:
- The Kick-Off Party at Carmel Plaza on Friday, June 2 from 3-5 p.m. where guests can enjoy amazing food, regional wines and awesome live music in the beautiful outdoor setting.
- An evening with Food Network favorite Ted Allen, Celebrity Chef and Host of Chopped, held at the Sunset Center on Thursday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m.
- A screening under the stars of Disney’s Ratatouille at Forest Theater on June 4 at 8:30
- The 30th Annual Monterey Winemakers’ Celebration on Saturday, June 10 at 1 p.m., which will be filled with incredible wines from one of the world’s premier wine regions.
Culinary Destination
“Carmel Culinary Week continues to put Carmel on the map as a notable culinary destination with a one-of-a-kind food and beverage portfolio,” said Amy Herzog, executive director of Visit Carmel. “Carmel-by-the-Sea’s culinary growth has been instrumental in what makes this town so unique and we look forward to welcoming guests to experience all the epicurean accolades Carmel has to offer.”
With no chains or franchises, Carmel-by-the-Sea is truly a one-of-a-kind culinary destination, filled with local support and loyalty. In the fall of 2022, six new innovative restaurants debuted in the village, growing the number of existing eateries to 60. With an estimated population of less than 4,000, Carmel-by-the-Sea boasts more restaurants per capita than any other small city in the United States. The seaside town’s restaurant scene offers diverse options for various experiences, from Michelin-rated chefs to al fresco dining options to dog-friendly menus for all to enjoy.
