Little River, Calif,- Summer is in full swing at the ocean-view Little River Inn on the lush Mendocino Coast. July brings delicious menu items, fun movies, and a new way to enhance a stay with festive libations right in the room or on the Inn’s Audubon-certified golf course.

Summer Movie nights

Summer and movies go hand in hand at the Inn. The first of their Summer Movie nights features “The Wedding Singer,” starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, a true comedy classic. Little River Inn will be screening this hilarious movie in their Abalone Hall on Saturday, July 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. Snacks for sale include popcorn, cookies, Little River Inn’s famous handmade fudge, and more. Cocktails

For cocktail aficionados, Little River Inn now has cocktail kits for two available via room service ($25-$35). The options are Little River gINN & Tonic Kit with a flask of Mendocino Spirits Gin, Fever Tree Tonic, and limes; the Mallory Mimosa Kit with Champagne, fresh squeezed orange juice and a fresh fruit garnish; Cally’s Bloody Mary Kit with a flask of Mendocino Spirits Vodka, house-made bloody Mary mix, and house-made garnish; the Mendo Mule Kit with a flask of Mendocino Spirits Vodka, Tree Fever Ginger Beer, and limes; the Fluid Dynamic Cocktail which consists of a 200ml bottle of The 1850 Cocktail (blend of brandy, whiskey, and aromatic brandy distilled with herbs) locally made by Low Gap Rye Whiskey, and a garnish of Amarena cherries; and finally, Ole’s Fashion Kit which includes a flask of locally crafted Low Gap Bourbon, orange bitters and cherry juice, a fresh garnish of orange peel, and Amarena cherries. And just introduced, a Sangria kit ($27) with fresh fruit soaked in Korbel Brandy, Meyer Family Cellars’ Piquette White Wine, ice, and two Mason jars. The cocktails and Sangria are also available made-to-order on the Inn’s golf course.

Buckets of Brews

“Bucket of Brews” is a build your own delight add-on for in-room enjoyment as well. For $38, six bottles of amazing beers (mix and match) can be delivered to the room ice-cold. Choices include Foggy Day IPA, Guinness Draught, Old Rasputin, Scrimshaw, Blue Star, Modelo, PBR, Lagunitas (non-alcoholic) and Root Beer (non-alcoholic). Hours that this beverage delivery service is available are daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

CIA-trained Executive Chef Marc Dym

The Inn’s award-winning restaurant is helmed by CIA-trained Executive Chef Marc Dym. His delectable new menu items for summer include a light yet satisfying Brazilian Seafood Moqueca, which is a Chef’s selection of Mixed Local Seafood braised in Spiced Coconut Milk with Tomato, Peppers, Onions, Lime, and Chili Oil. Their delightful Seasonal Salad is a mix of Seasonal Greens with Strawberries, Shaved Fennel, local Boont Corners Cheese, and Toasted Pistachio, all splashed with tart yet sweet Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Charming retreat

The Inn itself is a charming retreat. In addition to a chef-driven restaurant, they have spa services, that nine-hole Audubon-certified golf course, and professional tennis courts. Ideal for the entire family (and pet-friendly as well), there are 65 guest rooms ranging from the economical to the luxurious, and every room has a view of the Pacific.

While so many places are sweltering, the Mendocino Coast stays cool and fresh. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy all that the area has to offer from a cozy headquarters at the inimitable Little River Inn.
