Iconic Little Rivers Inn presents Crabbing adventure and culinary delights

Little River, Calif. -One of the most special things about Mendocino County in the winter is the advent of sweet Dungeness crab. Though of course, there’s much to love about Mendocino during this season, such as the verdant fields, the moody redwoods, the crashing ocean, and the ever-changing skies.

Cozy Little River Inn, overlooking the majestic coast with views of the Pacific from every room, presents an exciting crabbing package for January and two delectable crab-forward feasts in February. And in the middle of all of the crustacean fun – a relaxing wellness retreat in mid-January. And NEW – their “Rain Chasers” club, which offers special benefits and deals to people who appreciate Mendocino at this quiet, contemplative, and delicious time of year.

Crabbing Adventure Package

All throughout the month of January, adventurous epicureans can catch their own crab and enjoy a stay at Little River Inn, some great wine, and fabulous food at Little River Inn’s award-winning restaurant.

Cioppino Dinner at Little River Inn

This tasty celebration takes place on February 2, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm. Guests sit at communal tables and partake of a succulent cioppino brimming with seafood – including local Dungeness crab – served family-style with bakery bread for dipping, and salad, dessert, and coffee to accompany. Mendocino County wines and microbrews will be on offer as well. There is live entertainment, a silent auction to peruse, and a live auction taking place at 7:30 pm. The event is a fundraiser for Mendocino’s Club Cardinal, a non-profit that supports local high school sports. Tickets for the two seatings at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm are $75 per person.

Crab Cake Cook-off and Wine Tasting Competition

February 3, 2024, brings back Mendocino’s famous Crab Cake Cook-off from 11 am to 3 pm. This exciting event includes delectable crab cakes prepared by the best Mendocino County chefs and culminates in a contest judged by attendees that decides the People’s Choice Award for best crab cakes. Diners will sip on wines from America’s greenest wine region and be treated to specialty foods and beverages. Other activities include a silent auction, a live auction, a wine auction, and a raffle drawing for six nights on the incredible Mendocino Coast. This event is a fundraiser for Mendocino Coast Clinics which provides healthcare to all coast residents, regardless of their ability to pay. Nourish Retreat

After the hectic holidays, Little River Inn is offering a Nourish Retreat to rebalance and recenter energies for the New Year. Taking place Friday, January 19 through Monday, January 22, 2024, this is a three-night, weekend-long retreat, filled with Mindful Meditations, gentle yoga, breathwork, and other restorative practices, including slow movement yoga by the ocean to foster relaxation and rejuvenation. There will be plenty of down time too, for self-care activities such as hiking, nature walks, golf, massage, tarot readings, and more. The experience is guided by Under the Moon with Teale, an international Meditation Guide and Spiritual Coach who draws her inspiration from connecting to nature, among other things. The retreat includes a discount on the room and complimentary lunch Saturday and Sunday. Little River Inn’s Wellness and Nourish Retreat, Friday, January 19 through Monday January 22, 2024, starts at $1,438.00, not including tax and gratuities.

Rain Chasers Membership Program

Locals love this atmospheric time of year on the coast when the elements of nature really put on a show. There’s nothing more delightful than curling up by a warm fire with a book and a favorite hot beverage while listening to the sounds of the crashing ocean in the background. The Inn’s award-winning restaurant has meals covered with tempting cuisine at breakfast and dinner – which can even be enjoyed in-room. All it takes is a two-night stay between November and April to be eligible to join the Rain Chasers Club.
