Situated among the pines just about an hour’s drive northeast of Roseville, Lake Francis has made it onto our list of annual escapes for the past several years. Although a wonderful place to get away for longer vacations, its proximity to South Placer County makes it ideal for a quick day trip with the family.

Day passes are offered at $5 per person and give you access to the private beach with floating dock, sports fields (soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball, and playground), arcade, pool hall, and a swimming pool (great for a refreshing dip after the lake).  Kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals are also available. Since the lake is small, an hour or two rental always seems to provide enough time to paddle around the lake, visit the island and grab a couple swims.  The water temperatures are always about perfect during the summer and there are no gas motor boats are allowed on the lake. Life vests are strongly advised.

After time at the lake, head on over across the street to the to old-west style resort area. Complete with restaurant, snack shop, pool, sports fields and game areas, this area is a great place to kickback and relax while the kids go for a swim and explore the fun.
