Hope in View

With the theme of “Hope in View,” this year’s update will highlight how hope is on display in Mountain View. Hear how strong city leadership, the COVID-19 response, and aggressive plans to help our businesses thrive are making a difference as the pandemic hits the one year mark. Mayor Kamei is excited to share the many ways that the City is helping the business community overcome these hardships over the last 12 months and beyond.

“I am inspired by our community’s resilience despite this challenging time,” said Mayor Kamei. “My City Council colleagues and I have continued to support our local businesses throughout this public health emergency in partnership with the Chamber. I look forward to sharing the City’s path forward at the City Annual Update as we have much to look forward to in the coming months.”

City’s response to COVID-19

McCarthy will provide an overview of the City’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the innovations delivered by employees to provide many services virtually. She will also highlight the efforts underway to create the City’s first-ever strategic plan.

“Through the incredible and tireless efforts of our employees, the City of Mountain View quickly adapted to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said McCarthy. “These past 12 months, we’ve been there for the community through our COVID-19 relief efforts, virtual programming and essential services. Now, we are ready to serve up hope in 2021.”

Panel Discussion

Chamber President & CEO Peter Katz will serve as the moderator for a panel discussion featuring Mayor Kamei, McCarthy, Tiffany Chew with the City’s Economic Development Office, and Dr. Mark Adams, Chief Medical Officer with El Camino Hospital.

Katz noted, “Although this year’s event won’t take place in person, the virtual format allows us to connect with not only the business community but also everyone who cares about Mountain View. They can join us safely and conveniently from wherever they are.”
