Rocklin, Calif. – The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) announced that it has unanimously approved William Jessup University for full membership in the prestigious higher education organization.

The CCCU is an international association of intentionally Christ-centered colleges and universities. Founded in 1976 with 38 members, the Council has grown to 119 members in North America and 54 affiliate institutions in 20 countries.

William Jessup, the Sacramento region’s only residential four-year private university, became the 13th California institution to be granted full CCCU membership. The University joins other California CCCU-member schools like Biola, Azusa Pacific and Simpson.

“This is fabulous news for William Jessup. Gaining full membership into CCCU validates William Jessup and raises our stature as a Christian liberal arts university,” said William Jessup President John Jackson. “We embrace this new status and continue our vital mission of educating minds and advancing the word of God.”

The CCCU is a nonprofit organization headquartered in the Historic Capitol Hill district of Washington, D.C.

“We are very proud to have William Jessup University as our newest member,” said CCCU President, Edward O. Blews Jr. “We hold in high esteem William Jessup’s academic excellence, commitment to Biblical truth and integration of faith and learning.ย  As a native Californian who grew up in the Central Valley, I take particular joy in conveying this news to William Jessup.”

Blews noted that William Jessup has demonstrated “faithful and active participation” in CCCU’s BestSemester study abroad programs and the organization’s specialty study programs in the U.S.

“I hear good reports about the excellent students that William Jessup has sent to these programs,” Blews said.

Founded in 1939 by William Jessup, the University moved to Rocklin in August 2004 when student enrollment was a modest 436 students.

William Jessup has regularly added to its curriculum and now offers degrees in many different disciplines, including Biology, Business Administration, Family & Children’s Ministry, English, History, Intercultural Studies, Creative Arts, Education, Math, Music, Pastoral Ministry, Psychology, Public Policy and Youth Ministry.

Last fall, William Jessup unveiled a $17 million campus expansion that added new dining, athletic and classroom facilities to accommodate a growing number of students to its 128-acre campus.
