Rocklin, Calif. – Creekside Church of Rocklin and Western Seminary (with campuses in Portland, OR; San Jose and Sacramento, CA; and Online) announced today a partnership that will bring Western Seminary’s Sacramento campus to the recently acquired space at Creekside Church.

An accredited graduate school, Western offers trustworthy and accessible training for those serving, or preparing to serve, in key ministry roles. Western’s Sacramento programs include the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts (Biblical and Theological Studies), Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy, and Master of Arts in Ministry and Leadership.

Since 1991, Western Seminary Sacramento has been graciously hosted by its ministry partners at Arcade Church.  Record class enrollment levels and the resulting staff and program expansion, however, have exceeded available space at Arcade, making relocation necessary.

The 5,000 square-foot space adjacent to Creekside Church includes three classrooms and a combined library and lounge for student use. The location in Rocklin, north of Highway 80 and west of Highway 65 (off of the Sunset Blvd interchange), is expected to serve students well as it is a central location for commuting students.

“With the library/student commons area consuming almost 40% of the footprint, the educational, social, and spiritual climate is only bound to increase as students, faculty, and staff are given the opportunity to connect in a more collegiate setting,” said Wes Ehrhart, Executive Dean of the Sacramento campus. “With the numerous ministries growing in the south Placer County area, we believe moving in that direction will only expand the Sacramento area’s impact. It is our hope that these facility improvements will help us as we prepare men and women to share the healing hope that is the gospel of Jesus.”

Creekside Church has been a part of Placer County since 1988. In 2006, they moved to their current location on Technology Way in Rocklin, originally occupying the space as tenants. The church had an opportunity to purchase the property in August 2013, enabling it to acquire the entire facility including twenty classrooms and six administrative offices, previously occupied by a charter school.

“I am overjoyed that God has brought Creekside and Western Seminary together because of Western Seminary’s long standing commitment to equip future pastors, counselors, teachers and leaders with the tools they need to communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ,” said Ryan MacDiarmid, Lead Pastor at Creekside Church. “Though our organizations are separate, our mission is the same. Creekside has always seen itself as a church that not only ministers to the community it is in, but a place that equips leaders to bring the gospel of Jesus to the rest of the world. As Western and Creekside share facilities, some of that vision is realized. I cannot imagine a better use of this facility.”

Local leaders expressed strong support for the opportunity to attract another institution of higher education to the region.

Placer County Planning Director Michael Johnson said of the relocation to Placer County, “There is a lot of enthusiasm in this region for colleges and universities with William Jessup University, Sierra College and Heald College in Roseville all helping people in the community improve their lives through education. With its tradition of producing thoughtful, committed and productive graduates, Western Seminary is a great fit for Placer County.”ย

Placer County Board of Supervisors Chair Jack Duran added, “Placer County and neighboring cities have been making a concerted effort to bring higher education to the area.  Western is welcomed and celebrated for becoming part of the fabric of the Placer County community.”

Western Seminary’s new address is 290 Technology Way, Suite 200, Rocklin, CA 95765.ย  Classes are scheduled to begin on March 31, 2014.
