Two subjects were arrested for prowling and possession of burglary tools during the noon hour of January 9, 2008, after a Rocklin resident chose not to answer her door.
The resident of the 1400 block of Sandhill Dr. heard knocking at her front door and the door bell ringing. Instead of answering she watched three subjects peer through her front windows and then watched one of them go to her side yard. She dialed 9-1-1 and Rocklin Police Officers quickly responded.
Upon arrival officers stopped two of the subjects. One of the officers, Corporal Eric Dollar, recalled a recent Roseville Police Department media release dated January 3, 2008, detailing an increased number of residential burglaries in East Roseville. That release indicated that an Asian male, 5’8″ tall, with a medium build was seen in the area of two residential burglaries ringing doorbells shortly before the burglaries occurred.
Corporal Dollar noted that one of the stopped subjects matched the description of the Roseville Police Department media release. Other officers located another nearby resident who was a victim of door bell ringing by the same subjects.
Both subjects were arrested. The unknown third subject was not found after a search of the area.
Shanjahan Siddique, 19 years, Sacramento, was arrested for prowling, possession of burglary tools, and conspiracy. Thao David Nguyen, 32, Sacramento, was arrested for the same charges. Both were transported to Placer County Jail and booked. Siddique is being held on $20,000 bail. Nguyen is being held on $10,000 bail.
“For the second time this week an alert Rocklin resident called us when suspicious activity was occurring,” said Rocklin Police Chief Mark Siemens. “This enabled us to respond quickly and to make arrests. We encourage residents to be aware of anything suspicious in their neighborhoods and to notify us right away.”
