A transient was arrested on numerous charges following a traffic stop by a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday morning.

Jesus Morales Sanchez, Jr., 39, was pulled over in an alleyway behind Quartz Drive in north Auburn at 10:17 because the vehicle he was driving had expired registration stickers. Sanchez was found to be driving with a suspended license and was wanted on three Placer County warrants totaling about $78,000.

Upon further investigation, it was learned that Sanchez is on probation and required to register as a narcotics offender, which he had failed to do. In his vehicle, deputies found a digital scale and a metal container with methamphetamines inside.

Sanchez was booked at the Placer County Jail on felony charges of possessing and transporting a controlled substance; and misdemeanor charges of failing to register as a controlled substance offender and driving on a license suspended for numerous DUI’s.

He remains in custody with bail set at $102,997.
