Roseville, Calif.- The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredited the Sutter Rehabilitation Institute for a three year period for its delivery of state-of-the-art intensive rehabilitation for patients disabled by illness or injury.  Sutter Rehabilitation Institute is the only rehabilitation facility in the area to garner the three year CARF designation for specialty care, brain injury and stroke.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated, to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.

“The Sutter Rehabilitation Institute is dedicated to bringing high level care to patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, orthopedic conditions and degenerative neurological conditions,” said Greg LeBleu, M.D., medical director of SRI. “The CARF accreditation validates the committed focus of our clinical staff to provide quality care to our patients.”

The 40-bed rehabilitation center, which is adding 15 new beds this year, houses dedicated brain injury and spinal cord injury units, a 3,000 square foot inpatient gym, an outdoor therapeutic area, inpatient dining room and recreation lounge, and family education center. It also features an independent living apartment within the facility, where the patient’s family is able to practice caring for their loved one to help ease the transition to home.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.

Sutter Rehabilitation Institute is affiliated with Sutter Health, a not-for-profit, community-based health system located throughout Northern California.
