Auburn, Calif.- Detectives from the Placer County Sheriff”s Office have identified and interviewed the man who had an encounter with a 4-year-old in the Auburn Dollar Store Wednesday evening.ย
The man, who was very cooperative with detectives, said he was walking in the aisle of the store with his hands full when he bumped into the child. As he took the child’s hand and helped him up, the grandmother saw him and misunderstood his actions. The grandfather came after the man, who set his items down and left the store. He was fearful for his own safety, he said.ย
At this point, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office has no reason to believe that the man had any intention to cause harm or to abduct the child.
