On January 6, 2009, at approximately 11:30 PM, a Rocklin Police Officer was involved in a collision at the intersection of Pacific Street and Midas Avenue in the City of Rocklin. The preliminary investigation done by the California Highway Patrol indicated that the officer was traveling north bound on Pacific Street approaching Midas Avenue. A vehicle turned in front of the officer at East Midas Avenue and was struck by the police vehicle. Air bags in the Rocklin Police Unit were deployed. The collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol and conclusions are pending.

The driver of the other vehicle who appeared to have caused the collision displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

The Rocklin Police Officer was transported to SRMC via AMR and was subsequently released with minor injuries. The passenger from the other vehicle was also transported to SRMC via AMR and released.

The driver who caused the collision, Michael Lansom, 25 years old, of Fair Oaks was arrested for Felony Driving Under the Influence (DUI). He was booked into Placer County Jail. His bail is $30,000.
