Thomas Alfred Johnson of San Bruno, CA died Thursday as a result of a collision with a tree while skiing at Squaw Valley USA. This occurred on the Granite Chief run after he apparently lost control and slid into a group of trees.
A companion was immediately able to initiate life-saving measures, and very shortly thereafter was relieved by ski patrol and paramedics. Despite these efforts, as well as assistance from a Care Flight nurse, Johnson succumbed to his injuries at 4 p.m.
