Rocklin, Calif.- On Wednesday, May 14, the Athletic Department held its annual event that recognizes and honors current Sierra College student athletes who have accepted scholarships to play at four-year College institutions.

Dozens of athletes and coaches from Wolverine intercollegiate teams were in attendance, along with family members and friends to celebrate the advancement of these students’ educational and athletic careers. The Board room was filled to overflowing with team members, coaches, family and staff.

The event was led by Matt Folsom, the Sports Information Officer and voice of the Wolverines. Matt introduced each team’s coach who then in turn introduced each participating scholarship recipient, giving an account of their accomplishments on the field as well as in the classroom. This intimate format gave an opportunity for each student athlete present to be introduced by their coach. This year over 60 students have either already signed scholarship agreements or are still deciding which of several offers to accept.

The 2014 scholarship class includes such athletes as Madi Macauley (volleyball, San Francisco St.), Michelle Latini (golf, Holy Names), Brittany Tyra (water polo, CSU Bakersfield), Ericka Magana (basketball, Sacramento St.), Tayana Mata (softball, University of Hawaii), Jordan Finley (football, Colorado St.), and Dustin Vaught and Dalton Blaser (baseball, Cal St. Fullerton).

ย Coaches, Darci Brownell (softball), Scott Decker (aquatics), Jason Gantt (women’s soccer), Brandie Murrish (women’s basketball), Ben Noonan (football), Vera Nelson (volleyball),ย  and Rob Willson (baseball) participated in the ceremony.ย
