Shootings in Rocklin under Investigation

Rocklin, Calif.- On 08/10/2012 at approximately 2AM, Rocklin Police received calls from residents reportedly hearing several gun shots in the area of Sunset Blvd and Fairway Drive. A few minutes later Rocklin Police received another call from the area of Stanford Ranch Rd. and Park Drive regarding a vehicle shot by a bullet that had been fired from a passing vehicle.

Officers responded and located the victim vehicle with a single bullet hole near the front driver’s side door. Neither the passenger nor the driver was injured in this incident. The victim was able to give limited information regarding the suspect vehicle, describing it as a newer looking black or dark colored Ford Crown Victoria or similar type vehicle. The victim did not observe a gun but heard the bullet hit his vehicle as the Crown Victoria drove by in the opposite direction.

On 08/11/2012, at approximately 1:45AM, Rocklin Police received a call of shots fired into a residence in the area of Stanford Ranch Rd. and Park Drive. The residents were home at the time of the shooting but no one was injured. Officers responded to the residence and located numerous bullet holes to the rear of the residence with several penetrating into the interior of the home. Officers recovered several shell casings in the roadway near this shooting. The shell casings were the same caliber as in the previous night’s shootings.

On 08/11/2012 at approximately 1AM, the Shell Gas Station on Taylor Rd. in Loomis was shot at by unknown suspects. Placer County Sheriff’s deputies responded and located several bullet holes in the business with one bullet going through the glass in the front door. Several shell casings were recovered from the roadway in front of the business.

Shell casings recovered by police from these incidents are being analyzed for evidence.
