Rocklin Police are pleased to announce the arrest of a second suspect involved in the robbery and other crimes in a business on Five Star Blvd. on September 12th.ย ย

Evidence was discovered in the black sports utility vehicle in which the first suspect was located and subsequently arrested.  The key piece of evidence was a California driver’s license to a male subject.  The name on the license matched the registered owner of the vehicle.

The investigation continued and video surveillance of the incident was scrutinized by Rocklin Detectives.  The video revealed that a heavy set white male was the second party involved in the robbery.  The male in the video bore a strong resemblance to the registered owner of the black sports utility vehicle.

A warrant was prepared for the subject.   Robbery, carjacking, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and vehicle theft were the charges on the warrant and the information was entered into a statewide database used by law enforcement.

On September 21st, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Maksim Zakernichnyy, 27 years, for a separate charge and deputies learned that he was wanted by Rocklin Police.

He is currently in Sacramento County Jail where he awaits extradition to Placer County.

“Our detectives are tenacious when it comes to criminal investigations,”ย  said Rocklin Police Department Captain Lon Milka.ย  “This is a perfect example of a strong criminal case developed because of that tenaciousness.”
