UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital in Sacramento opens

First freestanding rehabilitation hospital in Sacramento County.

Sacramento, Calif. – University of California, Davis (UC Davis Health), and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health, are celebrating the opening of UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital, a 58,000-square-foot inpatient rehabilitation hospital located on UC Davis Health’s Sacramento campus. With 52 beds, the new facility will more than double the inpatient rehabilitation beds formerly available at the UC Davis Medical Center.

Located adjacent to Aggie Square, the university’s newly announced technology and innovation hub just south of UC Davis Medical Center, UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital is the first freestanding rehabilitation hospital in Sacramento County.

“As the first freestanding inpatient physical rehabilitation facility in Sacramento, this new hospital opening on our campus not only reflects UC Davis Health’s commitment to saving lives, but also highlights our commitment to helping patients achieve the best function possible as they recover from a serious injury,” said David Lubarsky, CEO of UC Davis Health and vice chancellor for human health sciences. “Our Level I trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center deliver outcomes that are nation leading, and we are thrilled that we can now discharge those patients to a bright and uplifting new facility sporting the best rehabilitation specialists in the region.”

Lifepoint Rehabilitation

Lifepoint Rehabilitation brings its personalized inpatient care model to the new facility. It focuses on acute rehabilitation and recovery for patients who suffer from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, multiple traumas, amputation and other injuries or disorders.

“We are pleased to welcome patients to UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital as we bring our evidence-based framework for inpatient rehabilitation care to the Sacramento community,” said Russ Bailey, president of Lifepoint Rehabilitation. “We know that high-quality, patient-centered inpatient rehabilitation care has a profound impact on the lives of those recovering from illness, injury and surgery, as well as those managing chronic conditions. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure our patients return home to their families and resume their normal daily activities more quickly. We look forward to continuing this important work alongside UC Davis Health as we advance our mission of making communities healthier.”

Amenities and adaptive units

The facility is outfitted with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units where patients can practice typical activities of daily living. It also includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients. Additionally, the facility houses multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums, including a 3,100-square-foot therapy gym and 650-square-foot brain injury gym. A specialized suite, therapy kitchen and laundry area give patients the opportunity to work through activities of daily living, and a therapeutic courtyard is outfitted with amenities designed to promote patient movement and activity, including a golf putting green.

“We are proud to celebrate the opening of the UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital,” said Brad Simmons, COO of the UC Davis Health Hospital Division. “Through our partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, we are able to provide the services and care that our patients need. This leading-edge facility is a reflection of the health system’s commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients, the community, and the region.”

UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital is now accepting patients at 4875 Broadway. For more information, please visit https://www.ucdavisrehabhospital.com/.
