As part of the kickoff for the 2009 Run Rocklin, the community-based event recently awarded four Rocklin schools with cash prizes for their participation in last year’s race.

During a Rocklin School Board meeting, Race director Larry Osborne announced that Breen Elementary School was the grand prize winner in the team contest and awarded $500. Breen had the highest number of registered entrants of any school at last year’s event.

Run Rocklin also awarded $100 to Ruhkala Elementary School for organization, Spring View Middle School for its training camp, and Rocklin High for the cross country team’s help in dispensing event flyers.

Participation by Rocklin schools is one of the factors that has helped make Run Rocklin such a huge success. Last year a record amount of money was raised for the Matt Redding Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

The 2009 Run Rocklin will be held Sunday, April 26 at Johnson-Springview Park in Rocklin. Now is a good time to start recruiting and training your school’s team for the sixth annual 12K/5K run/walk event.
