Holiday greetings and updates from Roseville Joint Union HSD Superintendent

Roseville, Calif.- The holiday season is setting in and I’ve been preparing the house for family gatherings, spending time with my son and checking in with our RJUHSD family. The students at each campus are filled with the holiday spirit in their own teenage way. I can’t tell you the joy it brings me to see our students relaxing into the holiday season for, arguably, the first time in almost two years.

The successes we’ve enjoyed in 2021 have brought us here, a holiday season filled with winter sports, student gatherings and genuine exchanges of care and well wishes. As Superintendent, I am thrilled to see the progress we’ve made as a district community since in-person instruction and extracurricular activities have been reinstated. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all staff, families, students and community members for banding together for our students. We owe all of our progress to our commitment to each other. That right there is priceless.

A major commitment we have made to each other at RJUHSD has been communicating more frequently about campus safety. We all need and deserve to be informed about the systems and policies in place to protect ourselves and our communities. To strengthen our campus safety programs, RJUHSD utilizes the Raptor Visitor Management System. This system empowers all sites to screen visitors, contractors and volunteers in our schools, allowing us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students and staff.

The Raptor system checks photo ID’s of the visitor’s name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders to ensure that visitors are safe to enter campus. Once entry is approved, the Raptor system will generate a badge that identifies the visitor, the date and the purpose of the visit.

I’m hopeful that by educating families and students about our commitment to safety, we can offer you the gift of peace of mind when your children come to school each day. So, this holiday season, I hope you take that peace of mind with you into each day so that you can fully enjoy and be present in the moment.

Happy holidays from our big RJUHSD family to yours.
