Roseville, Calif.- At 2:42 p.m. Monday, June 11, Roseville Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a collision in the intersection of Roseville Parkway and Pleasant Grove Boulevard. A Ford Escape sports utility vehicle traveling east on Roseville Parkway collided with a Saturn station wagon that was turning left from westbound Roseville Parkway onto southbound Pleasant Grove Boulevard.
The passenger in the Saturn station wagon, Mary Lou Axtell, 87, of Roseville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Saturn, a 74-year-old man from Loomis, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, treated and released. The driver and only occupant of the Ford Escape, a 36-year-old woman from Roseville, did not report being injured. All the involved parties appear to have been wearing seatbelts.
Traffic was diverted around the intersection until approximately 8:15 p.m. Monday.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Roseville Police Department Major Injury Accident Team.
