Roseville Offers Help for First Time Homebuyers

The City of Roseville wants to help low-income families make health and safety repairs to their homes or to purchase their first home in Roseville.

The City received $700,000 in grant funding from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) earlier this year to address these specific needs in our community.

These awards will assist California communities in addressing their most serious housing needs,” said former HCD Director, Cathy E. Creswell. “Among other things, these critical funds will help struggling families and workers stay in their homes or realize their dream of home ownership.”

The City of Roseville Housing Rehabilitation Program offers 0% deferred loans to low-income families to pay for repairs on their home to correct health and safety problems. The loans can also be used to make a home accessible to the elderly or disabled and for energy efficiency improvements. The loan is due and payable when the home is sold, no longer used as a principal residence, or transferred to another owner.

We want to help keep low-income homeowners in their homes and help revitalize neighborhoods. Often times, these needed repairs and improvements stand in the way of that goal.

The First Time Home Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program (FTHB) is designed to promote home ownership for low-income, first time homebuyers.

Through the grant funds, the City provides down payment assistance in the form of a deferred loan (second mortgage). Repayment of this loan is not due until the home is sold, transferred to another owner or in thirty years, whichever comes first.

We are accepting applications for both programs. We encourage those who think they may qualify for either program to apply.

You can find more information about the Housing Rehabilitation Program and the First Time Home Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program including qualifying income levels and application forms on the City’s website.
