Roseville Electric’s Director to Retire

Tom Habashi announced he will retire in December after 28 years in the electric industry

“I made this decision several months ago and have been waiting for the right time to make the announcement. I am honored to conclude my public service career in the City of Roseville and I am privileged to have worked with the extraordinary team at Roseville Electric. They are dedicated to being the best,” Habashi said.

Habashi began his career with the City of Burbank in 1981 and by 1984 he moved to Northern California to work for Palo Alto. In 1998, Habashi left Palo Alto to become Electric Utility Director for Roseville Electric.

For nine consecutive years, Roseville Electric has been recognized by PA Consulting for having the most reliable community utility in the nation. In 2007 and 2009, Roseville Electric was also honored by the American Public Power Association with its RP3™ Award for being a reliable public power provider.

Also under Habashi’s leadership, Roseville Electric has received high marks for customer satisfaction and reliability. For nearly a decade, Roseville Electric”s customers have reported a 99 percent satisfaction level.

Habashi saw challenges and rewards through the years. During his career, Roseville Electric established its first Energy Risk Management Policies and developed an innovative program where builders integrate roof top solar electric generation into new home construction. Habashi oversaw the building of the Roseville Exploration Center and Roseville’s first and only combined Cycle Power plant (the Roseville Energy Park).

‘Roseville’s BEST Homes was an outstanding example of Tom’s ability to create innovative and mutually beneficial programs through partnerships with our development community’ said City Councilmember Carol Garcia, who also served as a Public Utilities Commissioner. ‘Because of Tom’s leadership Roseville Electric’s employees are committed to the highest standards for customer service and reliability.’

‘The City has greatly benefited from Tom Habashi’s vision. Under his leadership the City expanded and enhanced electric service to our residents and businesses, as well as successfully navigated challenges and opportunities in the volatile electric utility business,’ said Acting City Manager Mike Shellito. ‘Roseville Electric’s accomplishments in exceptional reliability, providing competitive rates, building the Roseville Energy Park and the Utility Exploration Center are a testament to Tom’s professionalism and commitment to the Roseville community.’
